Thoughts of work set with the sun into the blue Pacific Ocean. Spinner dolphins, whales and sea turtles took their place. The interaction of the ocean and lava was mesmerizing.

30 days in Heaven! Thanks for the rescue in making my 50th birthday an Aloha to remember. I did not want to leave this spot. The water moving over the rocks is so entrancing, the huge waves during the storm, whales spouting and the hundreds of spinner dolphins. But the snorkeling was the best.

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise and for letting us hang out late today.

Thanks so much for sharing your stay. Tell your wife that this view is definitely the most beautiful on the island - and possibly in the world.

This was our second year in a row staying at Alligator and I hope to come back next year. The house is set up perfect for our family and is feeling like a second home to us. The location is ideal and the sunsets are awesome, until next time, cheers!

Six of us had a great stay at the Waimea Bay Beach Cottage in mid June. Though compact, it's well laid out and is very clean and well-maintained. I knew the cottage was in a convenient location, but hadn't appreciated just how convenient till we got there. It was nice to just leave the car parked for a while and have Three Tables Beach one direction (it actually is as close as advertised!) and Waimea Bay an easy walk the other direction. We also walked to Shark's Cove. It was also great to walk to Foodland and use the BBQ and well-stocked kitchen at the cottage to do meals at home. The outdoor shower was a nice touch and we used it a lot coming back from the beach. Though our 6 people were not made up of three couples, the plentiful linens etc. made for flexible arrangements. A note about Three Tables Beach -- I hadn't heard much about this one before and thought it might be rocky and limited in recreational value. Not so. When the waves calmed down, I enjoyed the snorkeling here just as much if not more so than at Shark's Cove. When the summer swell was up, it was good for wave play and swimming. I would recommend this cottage to friends.

My family rented the cottage as one of our homes-away-from-home during our daughter's wedding at Turtle Bay in April 2012. The cottage was very conveniently located between the wedding activities at Turtle Bay and Haleiwa. Its proximity (walking distance) to Waimea Beach,Three Tables, Foodland, and Starbucks afforded us the comforts of home and the luxury of a vacation. The amenities at the cottage were comparable to other homes and the pricey hotels. Though close to the highway, the cottage was quiet and peaceful. The place was clean and well kept but the best part of all was when we asked the owner what the rules and regulations were for our stay, his response was "Treat our home as you would your own." Such a welcoming attitude is priceless!!! We are definitely coming back :)

My fiancee and I rented the cottage for a getaway with my sister and her husband. We had a great time and really enjoyed having the cottage as our base for the vacation. The size was perfect for 2 couples, especially with 2 bathrooms. We cooked breakfast each morning before exploring the island and had most of our dinners using the BBQ on the porch. The cottage is walking distance to FoodLand, not to mention Waimea Bay and 3 Tables. We loved the location and would definitely return. The cottage and grounds are well maintained and it was super convenient to have the washer and dryer. We spent a lot of time in Haleiwa...you have to go to Matusmoto's for shave ice! We highly recommend staying here. Andy made everything so easy!

My family and I stayed at the Waimea Cottage for 1 week during the end of February. The owners were pleasant and easy to deal with. The property was spotless, bright, well-appointed, private, and very comfortable. The cottage has a solid wi-fi connection and is fully equipped with all major electronic gadgets. The location is excellent, truly just a few steps from Waimea Bay on one side and Three Tables Beach on the other. We walked to the supermarket and Starbucks everyday--extremely convenient. You can hear the ocean from pretty much every room in the cottage, and the deck with a grill is lovely. All in all an excellent experience and I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit the North Shore of Oahu.

This cozy Cottage is ideal for families of various ages (in our case, 2 grandparents, son, daughter-in-law, and a 13-year-old grandson). It is far enough back from the highway to avoid noise and danger. Close to the beach by a very short walk in either direction. The kids had a ball with boogie boarding, sand castle building, surf lessons, and general beach sports. The xlnt Waimea Bay Botanic Garden is within a mile of the Cottage. We spent a full day there. This is 5-star "Bot" compared to the barely 2-star Foster Garden in Honolulu, and is right down the street! General admission is a bit high at $15, but senior tickets are just $7.50. There’s a waterfall and swimming hole at the end of the trail, so bring a swimsuit. Free access is included with your admission ticket. Lifeguards are on duty and life vests are provided. The big Foodland market is within walking distance of the Cottage. Nearby historic Haleiwa proved to be a fun town for a day's visit. Kaneohe and Kailua are a lovely scenic drive along the east coast, another fine day trip. We loved watching and photo'ing the intrepid surfers riding the world famous waves. Sections of beach with dangerous undertow conditions are clearly posted. The Cottage amenities include a new BBQ grill, which was great for family dinners of steaks and chops. Lots of extra beach towels and boogie boards were a welcome addition to the other household supplies. The garden around the squeaky clean Cottage is lovely and restful. The sound of the surf at night lulls you to sleep. Three little green geckos kept watch over the house while we enjoyed the many attractions on the island during the day. We all achieved our R&R goal at the Cottage, although I confess to doing some work on my forthcoming (April 2012) book "Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease: The Infection Connection." We were thankful for the strong WiFi connection that made this work possible, as well as keeping in touch by email with family and friends on the mainland. The week went by far too quickly! Thanks to the owners, who went the extra mile to make sure our stay was trouble-free and wonderful.

This was my first dealing with VRBO, so I was a little apprehensive. The owner was great. He answered all my questions very promptly. He was honest and nice. The cottage was exactly as the pictures show. The location was so convenient. It was nice sitting on the patio, you can hear the ocean, and are surrounded by so many trees. We had an amazing vacation, and would stay here again, for sure.

After staying in Waikiki last year we wanted a different experience to share with our children ages 12 to 18. This cottage was the perfect place. The location is amazing. It's only one house away from Three Tables Beach and within walking distance of Sharks Cove and Waimea Bay. We were able to visit the beaches in the morning before anyone else was there and we never had to worry about parking. Foodland is across the street so the kids could walk to the store by themselves. The cottage is comfortable but not fancy. We loved the outdoor shower and washer dryer. I was a little concerned when we unlocked the house for the fist time because it was hot inside and there is no air conditioning but once we opened all the windows and turned the fans on it cooled off quickly. We were able to learn to surf at Chun's Reef right down the road and we swam with the turtles at the Laniakea Beach. There were people staying in the house that fronts the ocean but that was never annoying or uncomfortable (we didn't want a place where the owners were living right there watching us the entire time). We LOVED our stay at the Waimea Bay Cottage. The only bad part was having to leave when the week was over.

We (two couples) stayed at the Waimea Bay Beach Cottage July 27-30. Cottage was clean and well stocked. Bedrooms/bathrooms were layed out to give both couples plenty of privacy. You cannot beat the location, nestled between two gorgeous beaches with an easy walk to both, and a short drive to groceries/shopping/etc. We will certainly be back!

We came to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of my wife's parents. Six kids and five adults enjoyed the seclusion of the North Shore. It was nice to be away from the "hustle/bustle of Honolulu (traffic) and to just enjoy HI in its natural state. Although it rained every day of our visit, we still found a bit of paradise here!

We had a wonderful time with our family and friends! The view is the best! Great memories we will have forever. Walking distance to Foodland and Shark's Cove. What more could you ask for.

Michelle, San Francisco
Beautiful views, fantastic location. We will be back!

The ocean view is amazing. Saw whales! Lots of equipment that was useful. So close to everything! Makes me want to live here (and I would if I could)! Best vacation, I don't want to go. Great experience.

Thank you for sharing your house with us. We had an amazing time and established many, many wonderful memories here! This house comfortably accommodated my family (party of 12) and the coloring/activity books and crayons left on the kitchen table for our two your girls were a very welcoming touch. We sincerely appreciate the extra beach towels, laundry supplies and the boogie boards! We hope to visit again the the near future! Thank you again.

Eat at Shark's Cove Grill, Aoki's Shave Ice, Farmer's Market (Thursday @ Waimea Valley). 8 mo - 56 years old. Thank you for giving this family this special gift - time together! Love, All 10 of us.

We hunted for weeks for the "perfect" home to vacation in -this home was like finding a sunrise shell! Connecting with our Hawaiian family was a gift we will always treasure. My mother sang songs she learned as a girl living on the island. Thank you so much for providing such a fabulous home - I will think of our week here for years to come!

We recently spent 12 days at this great rental just outside of Halaiwa (pronounced Hally-eva). The set up was perfect for the nine of us - 6 adults and three children (5, 3,10mos). On the lower level there are three bedrooms each with either a Queen/King bed, ensuite and huge closet. One also had a single bed. There was also a smaller bedroom with a double bed. Each couple had their own room. The 5 year old had the small bedroom, the baby was in a play yard crib (supplied) in the huge closet, and the 3 year was on a single bed with his parents. There are ceiling fans and screened windows. Up a wide staircase from a large front hall is the open concept upstairs consisting of a well supplied kitchen (also a blender, microwave, coffee maker, toaster) with a bar and five stools, a table that sat six and a large living room (TV, sectional, etc), 2 pce bathroom, front lanai with ocean views and a small back deck. There was a BBQ with tank on the front deck as well as a table/6 chairs and some lounging chairs. There was a strap on a chair booster seat perfect for the 10 mos old. NOTE TO OWNER - a permanent gate at the top of the stairs would be a great addition to this family house. We angled the footstools at the top of the stairs to corral the baby – it worked but a gate fixed to the wall would be excellent. Through either the back master bedroom or small bedroom was access to the fenced pool area. The pool is not heated but we found that it felt warmer everyday (perhaps it was topped up the day before we got there). There is also a lawn area. The pool deck could have been bigger but there are steps into the pool and three places to sit in the pool on the edges. . There are lots of beach toys in bin outside the door of the small bedroom (boogie boards, sand toys, water shoes (all sizes), some snorkel gear) NOTE TO OWNER - new pool furniture is needed for pool area The location of this rental is excellent: turn right out the driveway and in 5 minutes just past Waimea there is Foodland (good grocery store with good prices), turn left out the driveway and in 8 minutes you're in Halaiwa (grocery store, hardware store, Long's drugstore and lots of little restaurants and shops, turn left out the driveway and walk 10 min (watch for big US flag) and there's a beach access (go left on beach and there's still waters safe for kids). 20 minutes away is Turtle Bay Resort with a great public beach right at the resort with a great restaurant, snorkeling (rentals), rental lounge chairs and booked helicopter rides ($50pp). There are also golf packages and club rentals. Past Turtle Bay the beaches get quieter (people and waves) and there are shrimp farms and lunch trucks. If you need a Walmart or Ross's Dress for Less fix - 30 minutes away towards Honolulu. Fruit and Veg - there is a very good stand a few minutes before Turtle Bay coming from the house. Halaiwa (Sunday) and the neighbouring town of Waiaula (Thursday) - check online. This property is across the Kamehameha Hwy from the beach but is off the road. We had a great view of the waves and there was a place 2 minutes away (turn right out of the driveway) to take your drink and watch the sunset because the sun came down behind some trees and the view was blocked from the lanai. There was a family of boars that ran through the yards at all times during the day (kids loved it), lots of geckos in the house - watch for the one without a tail (sorry, but it'll grow back). The house borders a park so there are lots of birds. Take some OFF for mossies and remember to keep the sliders without screens closed in the evening. There are lots of towels provided and there is now a cooler. We will definitely go back as this fit our family to a tee!

We came to this island without any plans and it turned our just great. We all enjoyed our stay. You made us feel very welcome and at home here. That's why leaving is so hard.

Thank you for the total Ohana (Family) experience here at this home. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for your suggestions and sharing your house with us. We had many great bike rides and saw many gorgeous sunsets. The convenience of being so close to everything, yet still private was great. Thank you! See you again soon.

Had the best time this Thanksgiving. One regret was having to leave, otherwise, everything was "perf". Thanks.

Thank you! We liked the house. It was a nice stay. We also enjoyed Shark's Cove. The beds were so comfy! We will be back soon!

We had three generations here. We enjoyed the views from the moment we stopped in the driveway. The first night we witnessed our first sunset. We woke to whales off the deck. Enjoyed the short walks to Shark's Cove & the beach.

The Ardreys
We came from New Hampshire and New York to meet our family from the Marshall Islands! What a beautiful setting this was! We felt "home" from the moment we arrived! We enjoyed sitting on the porch, hearing the waves and watching the whales! It was perfect for what we needed to reconnect with our family. Thanks so much for making this the "home" we needed for this week!

Aloha! Coming from Colorado and Kansas this trip has been perfect. Its amazing to meet up with friends all the way across the world. The house is perfect, the patio is a great place to gather and use the BBQ. Thank you for having a beautiful place for us to stay!

Sheila, Live Oak, FL/US
Best vacation EVER!!! We booked this as a 'once in a lifetime trip' with our 3 grown children, their spouses and 10 month-old granddaughter. I have to admit that we were nervous about what was shown on the website. We wondered if it really could be as nice as the pictures--it was even BETTER!!! The house had everything we needed for a fun and comfortable stay. After touring the island, the pool was the perfect place to relax and visit with each other. There was great accessibility to grocery shopping and restaurants. It didn't hurt being close to Waimea Bay and, (shhh) the secret beach within walking distance was magical as we watched the sea turtles feeding at sunset. We had plenty of room in the house which has a perfect layout. The temperature in the house was always comfortable as many windows caught the lovely breeze. The owner really exemplified the aloha spirit by making sure our questions were answered before, during and after our stay. He went out of the way to see that the baby had a high chair since there was not one in the list of items provided. We thought his welcome gift to us was a very considerate gesture: fresh pineapple and bag of Macademia nuts. All 8 of us agreed that when (not if) we can get back to Hawaii, we'd love to rent this house and start a family tradition of great vacations!

Kate L
Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely beach house. It was ideal for the eight of us with my husband and I in the downstairs' studio separate from the rest of the family who were in three bedrooms upstairs that had a huge kitchen and living room area that led to a huge lanai (balcony in Hawaiian) where we all barbequed frequently. Under the house next to the stairs, it was nice having warm water also (some places only have cold water) where you can rinse off the salt and sand after being on the beach. We had a picnic table and lounge chairs to use at our convenience. I especially liked the location as it was next to Shark's Cove - a scuba diving, snorkling, tide-pooling, and swimming mecca. The sunsets (of which we took many pictures) were magnificent (hence called - Sunset Beach). The children liked watching the sea turtles swim by. At night from the balcony, it was exciting to see the scuba divers with their blue flashlights in the water either exploring or fishing. Foodland Supermarket is right up the street with the famous Ted's Bakery about a mile the other way. My daughters jogged to Waimea Bay (about 1 mile away) and jumped off the famous rock. Haleiwa is about three miles away with many local shops and restaurants. Customer Service was very warm and accommodating -excellent Aloha spirit. It was the ultimate living-on-the-beach dream with the surfers even if it was just for ten days. It was very relaxing and stress-free. Standing from the beach, this house "stands up" to the rest of the homes beside it. You've got to see and vacation in it for yourselves! Yes, I would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Oahu.

RJRA, San Francisco
The home was absolutely beautiful. It exceeded our expectations. It was expansive, tastefully decorated, clean and well maintained, including the landscape around the pool area. The house had everything we needed, down to the smallest details ( hand soap in all bathrooms, shampoos in the outside shower, citronella candles in the lanai, toys, skim boards, etc, etc). The owner was very helpful and accommodating. The Rental Manager even came by just to make sure that we were ok. We spent a lot of time in the house cooking and grilling, swimming in the pool and just relaxing in the lanai watching each breathtaking sunset. The home is close to the best beaches ( Sunset Beach for sure), restaurants (Ted's bakery) , food trucks ( Tons in Haleiwa), Shave Ice ( Matsumoto's) and a few minutes away from Foodland for grocery shopping. We love the North Shore and this home made it a memorable vacation. We would definitely come back!

Jess, Shanghai, China
Beautiful views (including perfect perch for sunset watching), snorkeling/ diving and beach access right outside the door. Generous and considerate accomodations for adults and children. Feels like home away from home but even better. Also very conveniently located near grocery store and dive shops. My whole family loved it! We cannot wait to go back.

Beth
The customer service was amazing! I was able to book this wonderful home at the very last minute. They had the house ready for me within 2 hours of a last minute booking. I am so appreciative of the help I received. It made this challenging vacation really easy for us! What I liked best about this unit was the large and modern kitchen with decks that looked out onto the ocean. The large bedrooms and bathrooms were also a great plus.

Thomas
The House was wonderful, and location was great. We were traveling with young children, and the trip was very enjoyable. The customer service I received was very organized and responsive to my questions. I would recommend this vacation rental to my friends and family.
